Commonly Asked Questions

Can I Change your designs or design my own?

Yes. You can change our standard designs as long as the changes are structurally feasible. We can also work from your ideas and once you have approved the preliminary floor plan. your final drawings will include extensive plans, details, and sections from foundation through the roof structure.

What is the cost for a custom designed house?

It depends on the quantity of materials used -- log footage, number of windows and doors, number of floor joist, trusses or rafters, etc. Fee for custom home plans will depend upon the complexity of the design, the engineering and local codes approval required.

Will I be able to finance?

Yes. Many lending institutions offer construction loans for log homes.

Do I have to hire a contractor or can I build Myself?

If your lending institution will approve your loan to build yourself, you need only the basic tools and some building aptitude to complete the basic structure. We also have a licensed Contractor and crew available.

How will plumbing and wiring be handled?

Most of the utilities run within the interior partitions which are typical framing materials. The plumbing pipes run between floors and within interior partitions. Vertical channels for electric wires within exterior walls are drilled on site as the first and second course of logs are erected. Wall outlets are notched out in the third course and then the actual wires are "fished up" later. Notches for wall switches or light fixtures beside doors are usually reached by routing the log ends before the door jambs are installed.

What type of foundation must I use?

Any type of foundation can be used for our log homes, whether it be a basement, concrete slab, piers or crawl space.
